Anne Marie goes home on a Thursday so Mia and I were stuck for what to cook until she suggested pancakes…Perfect. We had most things but needed some milk. Normally I buy the uht stuff in packets. If you shove it in some water it can last for about 3 days. Anyway, today we decided to go for the ‘fresh milk’. A whole litre for 300 rwf was good value and it looked fine too. At home, Amy had popped round for a cuppa and was up for trying some of the fresh milk. As I unscrewed the top though, lots of the white stuff began oozing out and fizzing noisily - I realised something was wrong. Thing is it didn’t smell that bad, not like off milk anyway so although Amy was not convinced and opted for the nido, myself and Mia thought we’d still have a go with the pancakes.
In the end, we figured out that we’d bought the popular fermented yoghurt type drink ‘igivuguto’ which though not milk made the most delicious banana pancakes…
