Interviews

So for my sins I am once again involved with MINEDUC and more specifically TSC (Teachers' Services Commission). As part of the nationwide drive to improve the level of teachers' English, training is being planned for every district in the country. This has created a need for more teacher trainers, so tomorrow and Friday, myself and Ruairi from Gisagara have been tasked with holding interviews for potentially 120 candidates. The training itself is to take place for 3 weeks at the beginning of December so time is short. It's great experience, but once again the organisation of the exercise has not been brilliant. In June/July I was involved in the baseline surveys of English in secondary schools so it's nice to see how the project is progressing but it's disappointing to see that logisitics have not improved...

Last week, I was informed that myself and Ruairi would be partnered with a 'national with good English'.Each pair would then interview 60 each over the 2 days (I think). Unfortunately, they could only find one person (!) so it was left to me to source another. As I've been training, I've not had much time to do this. So I've had to ask someone who is now working in the office. He's actually already a teacher trainer and though his written English must be ok, I'm not completely confident about his conversation. But needs must. So I've emailed my concerns to John and just hope for the best.

No printer here (someone's taken the catridge!) so I'm hoping Ruairi can bring all the forms we need and we'll have time to brief our partners early tomorrow. The time for each candidate is strictly 10 mins and each interviewer must ask questions alternately...I'm just hoping Evariste (my partner) can learn his lines...

Ruairi is arriving later from Gisagara so I'm sure everything will be crystal tomorrow morning -it has to be :0)
