Am very tired but very pleased the first week of training is over. It was another good day and it’s so nice that the majority of the teachers want us to do more training with them. The main feedback we’re getting is that they don’t get enough and they really want more of it, which is great. So anyway, not much to report today except that I only managed to take the bike as far as Kigeme. This time it was the oil. Doh! It was completely my fault. I never really check it but unlike a car it looks like you have to do it much more often so well, lesson learnt. I was actually really lucky, just as I passed through Kigeme I spotted Amy waiting on the bus so let her know I would probably be late and would try to continue. Anyway, of course I didn’t get too far before it cut out again and I knew I wouldn’t be able to make it. Two really helpful (if misguided) lads came to my rescue. I explained I was out of oil and did they know if there was any back at the village. They nodded enthusiastically saying there was some so I began to wheel the bike back down to Kigeme. Unfortunately though, they thought that petrol and oil were pretty much the same thing and there was only petrol. I realised that the nearest Garages were either back down in Gikongoro or not until Gasarenda. I decided to leave the bike at the diocese (where Amy works) and caught the bus up to Gasarenda. Training over, I stopped with my empty water bottle at the garage, got the oil, caught the bus and eventually retrieved the moto back in Kigeme. Phhhewwwww!
