We changed venue today working with teachers from 2 more sectors. Once again we were pleased with turn out. At 8.30am there were only around 14 but by 9am we were up to 32 and the catering was on time for all the breaks so fingers crossed this continues. Next week we’re at two more locations and we’ll be using different caterers at each so we’re hoping everything runs as smoothly. We were based at Mbuga Primary this time. The group was brilliant and there were no mishaps-the last time we were here one of the children managed to tamper with Amy’s bike and we were stuck at the mechanics for an hour…
It’s funny how different the groups are. Yesterday’s was really bubbly and chatty, today it was a lot calmer but the ideas were fantastic and everyone enjoyed the games and songs. Silas was our TOT for the day and he proved a great facilitator. Our youngest participant was Isabelle. We almost didn’t notice her. She was wrapped up and strapped in the usual way on the back of her mum Louise. I must say, I love the way people here just get on with things. The baby was only 2 months old but Louise managed to join in everything with little Isabelle on her back. For the more active ‘fruit salad’ game though she was handed to Amy who was eager to have a hold- Unfortunately though, the excitement proved too much for Isabelle and as she was passed back to mum, Amy was left with a little reminder of her time with the baby all over her white top - there’s no such thing as Pampers here!
I took the bike home after training so at least I can have a bit of a lie-in tomorrow as I won’t need to pass the office and have already filled up for tomorrow. I’m absolutely shattered now so I’ll just write up the evaluations and then it’s off to bed with ‘Dexter’…I managed to download loads of DVDs last week so have the whole first series. It’s dubbed in French but it’s easy watching which is just what I need right now :0)
